Hey guys, been a while. This ride is going to have eD, so i figured this section was appropriate.
The Chevelle was bought in Arizona, and is currently undergoing a very, VERY thorough frame off restoration there. I'll post progress pictures as I get them.
Here's some killer pics to get you guys hooked.
The starting point
Body off
Frame media blasted and sprayed with self etching primer to prevent oxidization during the build
**** they work for me. The album might be private let me try to fix that.
Alex, I am not doing the work. It's being done in Arizona by a guy who does a bunch of restorations like this. Trust me when I say neither my dad or I have the skill set to work on this car. That's why you pay someone $30k to do it for you.
You keeping performance stock or building a beast?
Not stock, but not crazy. It's meant to be a looker and a cruiser. It's getting a fresh 396, blueprinted, port, polish, mild roller cam, forged pistons and rods. The motor is a 2 bolt main, which is completely fine unless you're trying to run it to 5k plus RPM all the way down the 1/4. It's got a Muncie 4 speed close ratio with 3.42's out back.
stereo plans so far include a 13kv.2 sealed, no clue on power or source. Probably A nice set of 6.5's up front
It's definitely on its way for sure. The chassis is all pretty much put together, the rear end is in, all new shocks, springs, trailing arms, sway bars, new front slotted disc brakes, new drums in the rear, tranny sealed, primed, and painted, bell housing painted, motor getting accessories added now, body is now on the rotisserie. The rear quarter panel on the passenger side is now on and awaiting lead (they tack them in place, and essentially solder them on with lead). They are setting all the gaps for the trunk, doors, hood, etc now. After that it's off for more primer and then paint.
Right now we're hoping for April, but we shall see. I think May is more realistic. I've got more pics for you guys, gotta get them uploaded.
Curt, restomod all the way. The car is getting the factory rally's temporarily since we don't want to get wheels and tires through the restorer, but we dropped it 2 inches all the way around, and it is getting Coys C-5 wheels in either Polished or Gun Metal (undecided). 17x7 or 8 up front and 18x8 or 9.5 in the rear http://www.coyswheel.com/coys.html
