after seeing me work on my car all the time, my UPS delivery guy decided that he wanted me to redo his system in his 2000 mercedes s500...

the previous install simply put, sounded horrible and looked pretty bad, a ply wood subbox and ply wood amp "tray" sat int he trunk, partially covered by trunk liner. and beucase they didnt bypass the stock bose system properly, the sound would vary up and down with the speed of hte car (stock mercedes noise compenstation circuit and bose equalization), and therewas a lot of system noise.

this is a rather simple install and not very expensive...

for interior speakres, DLS MS6 component sets reside int he front, when i opened up the doors, instead of aftermarket speakres he was told was installed last itme, i found the stock mercedes speakers...hmm... anyway, the MS6 midbass went intothe stock location, and the tweeter is flushed into the stock kick panel midrange location:

rear doors got DLS 226 coaxials, again replacing stock rear speakers

in the trunk, i used the two memephis amps he had before, and threw in a 16ov2

stealth, as usual, is the style here...

and here is the trunk when the panels are removed, revealing the two amps, the audio control LC8, and the sub in its suede well

thast it, simple and straight forward, the funny thing is, he told me that he paid more for labor last time than this time

and here is the shot of the behind the scenes wiring, showing everything neatly arranged and tied down

overall, sounds pretty good, the 16ov2 sounds great, and fills the entire interior with a lot of clean bass

Are the amp panels breathable? I know the subwoofer one is, but I can't remember if I've seen you do that on the amps or not. Thanks

Very sick install as always

tweeter sounds fine, i have almost alwas had good results with kick panel installed tweets

the amp 's covers are solid right now, in the past, i havent had much issue with amps done like this...but if it overheats at all, i can wlays make it breathable.

Did you use red wire for the power and ground for the silver amp?

yeah, ran out of ground cable

this is a pretty low budget install, since it was my UPS guy, it was a favor so...only charged him 400 bucks for the entire cars labor and wiring, so any extra wiring i had to scrounge

At least you don't have to worry about him kicking holes in the side of your packages now like most UPS employees seem to do

One of our clients is retired from UPS. He started low and worked his way up. He just paid for a ~$1.2-1.6 million cabin. No mortgage. Not to mention his house in the "historic" district in town (the one where all the hippies live). I am surei t was well over a mil too. One Christmas a few years ago, he thought it would be nice to buy brand new suburbans and tahoes for his 4 kids. He drives an Escalade....a brand new one. His wife drives last years model. And he has a sweet '40 Chevy.

So UPS does compensate loyal employees rather well. Bennies are good too.

no way... they're not "starting at $50,000 a year" from what I understand it's more like 30-40K and you can work up to 50-60 or so as a driver.
