after seeing me work on my car all the time, my UPS delivery guy decided that he wanted me to redo his system in his 2000 mercedes s500...
the previous install simply put, sounded horrible and looked pretty bad, a ply wood subbox and ply wood amp "tray" sat int he trunk, partially covered by trunk liner. and beucase they didnt bypass the stock bose system properly, the sound would vary up and down with the speed of hte car (stock mercedes noise compenstation circuit and bose equalization), and therewas a lot of system noise.
this is a rather simple install and not very expensive...
for interior speakres, DLS MS6 component sets reside int he front, when i opened up the doors, instead of aftermarket speakres he was told was installed last itme, i found the stock mercedes speakers...hmm... anyway, the MS6 midbass went intothe stock location, and the tweeter is flushed into the stock kick panel midrange location:
rear doors got DLS 226 coaxials, again replacing stock rear speakers
in the trunk, i used the two memephis amps he had before, and threw in a 16ov2
stealth, as usual, is the style here...
and here is the trunk when the panels are removed, revealing the two amps, the audio control LC8, and the sub in its suede well
thast it, simple and straight forward, the funny thing is, he told me that he paid more for labor last time than this time
and here is the shot of the behind the scenes wiring, showing everything neatly arranged and tied down
overall, sounds pretty good, the 16ov2 sounds great, and fills the entire interior with a lot of clean bass
