So i recently watched the how to vid on building RCA cables. What equipment should i use? I don't care about cosmetics because it won't be seen at all. Just performance.
Looking around i found this stuff
Wire
RCA Plug

Madisound and PE for starts.
Good cable is a bit more difficult to source.

Thanks Dave. What do you think of my choices? I don't need super high end, but wouldn't mind a little quality.

The plug is fine but that wire is way larger than you need.
More appropriate wire: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=100-280

Hey Joey.
The wire that Dave posted up will work better with your RCA's. Since the RCA strain relief sleeve only accepts up to 6mm wire, and the wire you posted appears to be much larger.

Search eBay for Tiff. There is some bulk cable.

I would suggest staying away from Starquad. While it might be an isolated incident. Ive seen starquad measure resistance across all 4 conductors. Which means there is exposed wire somewhere in the wire length.

how does that work with 4 wires? Can i esentially make two sets in one of RCA's? That would work perfect!!! I'm going to have a 9.1 and 9.2 on opposite sides of my car and can then split it and run one to one side and one to the other!

I've used it for multiple cables, both in home and in car and never had a problem. I'd say it was more than likely an isolated incident as many people use Starquad as their cable of choice.

Yup, can do a stereo pair with one cable. Use 2 wires for ground and the other two for L/R signal.

ohhhhhh....sorry i was thinking wrong. I can make one set with one wire. got it. i would need two runs for two amps, while with the wire that typo suggested i would need four runs.

How much are you looking to spend for everything?
How many channels and how long will each channel be?

I'm amazed no one has mentioned cat 5 (typically used as ethernet cable). You're probably going to be hard pressed to find something that's cheaper. The best part is there are four pairs of wire in there.

I'm running two amps, a 9.2 and 9.1 (Sub-stage and Front Stage only) so i think that is three channels.
I think i would end up needing about 25 ft of wire.
I would think $50 would be plenty, wouldn't it?

does your deck have a pair of RCA outs for the subwoofer or just a mono out?
