Well, I am almost done with the 1st phase of my sound system. I ended up doing alot of research into what type of head unit to buy. I kept weight and functionality in mind. I found a 200w 4 channel Solid State Marine radio that has SD, USB and 3mm input made by Pyle “Pyle Hydra PLMR19W” (not my favorite brand, but it had all the specs I was looking for, even a built in weather radio). Mechless, meaning no CD player. and it also has RCA out for the amp I will be adding in with a sub as phase 2. For the speakers I am using an old set of Pioneer 3/way until I get to phase 2 of the install.
I also made a fiberglass gauge enclosure and have upgraded alot of electrical so it can handle all the extra crap I have been installing. I need some newer photos, but here are a few during the install to show how I made some of the components using fiberglass, plywood and foam. We deal with alot of epoxy fillers also. Fillers range in application from a super strong micro fiber (strength) to a fine powder filler (great sandability) meant for skim coating. Using epoxy fillers to smooth out the surface of glass work has a much stronger application than using bondo or similar products used for auto body repair. I have found that using the bondos and other fillers end up cracking and detaching from the epoxy over time, or with added stress.

shot before glassing in the bottom curved panel of the speaker enclosures.

These are the bottoms of my speaker enclosures. 3oz glass on one side, then score the back side and you can flex the foam to your hearts content. After it was installed I layered 6 oz on the inside covering up the scored area.

Shaped a piece of high density foam to my liking, then applied about 4 layers of 3 oz glass. It holds my RPM gauge and amp meter.
I work alot with fiberglass and epoxy, so if any of you guys need help on any type of molding or application let me know.
I am headed out of town for a few weeks, when I get back I'll snap some updated photos of the completed setup. All I have to do is run my antenna wire and paint everything. More updates to come. I cant wait till my next Phase of the install. 8" sub and amp!!!
Stay tuned!
