Thanks mang. It's a TQWT using a 3" speaker (Tang Band 871S with a notch filter). check it out here...
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/full-...d-w3-871s.html
It seemed like a real neat project and is supposed to be a surprising experience from a 3" speaker. This is the first phase of this project. Build the actual Needle. I then want to go ahead and build onto the back of each bass bins with (I'm leaning toward) 6.5" subs downfiring ported. I am thinking 6.5"s will be good compliments to the 3" speakers and hopefully not overpower them. This is a project for the bedroom, so I am not looking to kill anything with audio here. I had messed around with a pair of 871s before and they sounded real good sealed with the notch filter, so I am excited to hear these....
Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know!

You better learn to wait, this guy likes to take his time with his projects, sometimes months at a time.

I don't understand the logic. When you have money it takes you a few weeks to get something done. When you don't have money, all these projects get done in less time. I don't understand! Is it all of the 1/2" wood you have laying around that you have anxious to get rid of?

HAhahahaaha. I don't know man. It just happens.
This is just about the last of the 1/2" though. I have very little usable MDF laying around, and not enough resin to really do any glassing (though I have tons of knytex and mat). So after these, I'll be done for a bit.

That straight line looks amazing, along with the accuracy of that circle cut.

 ****.
A. That is an optical illusion on the straight cut.
B. Needed a slight notch out because of dmn terminals.
I hate you.

Sorry Tim.
It's ok. I understand Mike.
Well. here they are....
stuffed and wired and caulked.
Notch filter hot glued in line.
Loaded in comparison to my D8's. about half the depth, 2/3rds the height, less than half the width. Not sure yet if I want to round edges, how to finish, etc.
In space in the bedroom. Don't mind the can in the background.
The base plates are temporary and were screwed on. I am not sure if I am going to add a subwoofer on to the back yet, but am leaning toward no. I may add one under the bed, something like an 11K, but not sure yet.
Quick Review: Wow. Everything I read was true. These things are so surprising. Not because of how loud they get, but because of the width of the freq response. With the receiver set to full range, they get moderately loud down to about 80Hz, and started to drop off, still audible but rather quickly. very good response down to about 55-50Hz.
Their off-axis response is quite good, I think recessing the speakers may have hurt that a bit, though I need to give them more listening time.
I don't want to say much else until I give them a good listen, but right now I am extremely pleased and have no regrets on what I have spent/time I have spent on building them. I think they are going to make for an excellent bedroom set of speakers for the cost.
**Note: Check out the super sweet port wiring adding dbeezzzzzzzzzzzz....
