It's been a while since I've gotten my hands dirty installing and whatnot... too long. I took these pictures months ago and have since gone on installing more deadening throughout the vehicle, I'll have to hunt for some more pictures. Sadly, I didn't stop and take pictures throughout the whole process, but I think I have somewhere in the neighbor hood of 400sq ft installed between both the eDead 80, and eDead v4.

Door Panel already removed

Stock speaker

First layer of deadening on the outer skin

Second layer added.

v4

Crammed all the v4 in there

Door panel deadening

Layer 1 complete of eDead 80

Repeat same process on driver side door

Layer 2 -- Driver side

v4 inner shell

(Note: 2 layers of eDead 80 were applied on the inner door skin, before topping off with more v4.

Driver side panel

The rest of the pictures I have are just various interior panels that I have added sound deadener to in an effort to reduce the known TL rattles.

Major headache -- these two little lower level dash components.

Already pulled apart -- top looking down.

Part 1

Part 1 -- flipped over

Top and bottom sandwich together -- eDead 80, and v4 in between

Put back together

Glovebox

Inside the stock glovebox -- weight dampner and everything else removed

Stock rear deck

Add boatload of eDead

That's all for now. I have many more pictures... just need find time to upload them. I don't even have any recent pics of the car

All in all, I have added deadner to these places:

Wheel wells
4 doors
rear passenger floorboard
rear quarters
rear deck
B pillar
A pillar
C pillar
Rear trunk floor
trunk
roof
various dash components

I think that's it... really hope none of ya'll still use 56K

Looks good Justin.

Im not sure if its the pictures, or what, but you appear to have a lot of air bubbles. Specifically around raised parts.

If that is the case, I would suggest cutting slits with a knife and get that eDead in contact with the surface area below it.

Im still amazed at how much eDead you have in that thing.

Please add your review of how much difference it made... any db meter type info would be a plus also!!

So far so good, Justin!

For some reason I laughed at the "NOT AN ASHTRAY" pic.

Alex: I always trim everything up prior to putting things back together in order to maximize the amount of surface area the deadener is adhering to. These pictures do not show it, but rest assure there are "X" marks, slits, cuts and little things here and there in order to achieve the best result possible.

MG: I had two main goals when installing this much deadener.
1. lower the noise floor, and reduce the known rattles associated with the 3rd gen TL interiors. I can say I definitely achieved this. Many thanks to the TSBs and service guides on acurazine.com to help me along the way.

2. I wanted to improve the response of the factory ELS system. The factory system tends to over boost lower mid base, and low end extension of the factory 8" sub is not that great given the fact that it is an IB sub, and the TS parameters of the sub indicate that the sub just won't ever have much low end grunt.

I do have a modified car, intake, intake manifold spacer, j-pipe, cat back etc as well as I'm running some rather wide 265/35/18's. All this adds up to a good amount of road noise, and exhaust drone.

Add the v4 definitely helped improve the response of the mid range drivers all throughout the board. Unfortunately I no longer have my term lab, and I do not have access to an RTA either, as there aren't any high end audio shops near me.

Deadening the rear deck, as well as the underside of the rear deck, trunk and the whole rear of the car also helped out with the road, and exhaust noise. Lowering the ambient noise floor completely transformed the stock speakers in this car. I've noticed imagining has moved more upfront, and has raised up quite abit as well. Before the sound was low, and vocals were sounded as if they were being dragged down by all the outside noise.

I wish I had more pictures. I'll have to pull the trunk apart real quick and snap some more. The only real PITA part to gut in this car is the headliner... you really need two people to do that.

Matt, believe it or not there is not an ashtray in this car. Nor, does this car come equipped with a cigarette lighter. IF you want an ashtray you must order one as a dealer accessory and I believe it's around $20 bucks, same goes for the fancy dancy old fashion push cig lighter.
