In the subject I put 11kv's cause I wasn't sure if 11kv.2 was the color silver and the optional 11kv.3 was the black sub w/ silver ED signature. The .3 isn't an option when buying the subs straight up it seems. At least I didn't see any drop down for it.
However, when you go to the loaded box page HERE you can change the color.

Anywho, I just got rid of my 2006 Jeep Wrangler that had an Alpine M500 amp & two MTX Thunder 4500 10's in a custom Jeep box.
With that said, I'm selling the Jeep box w/ the MTX subs (that actually performed decently)
and I'm interested in the above linked box and sub combo that ED sells.

I was wondering the following about the box:
-what are the box air space deminsions? I did some searching and someone on here posted .8 squared ft Wasn't sure if that was true.
-Is the box made of 3/4" MDF? If not then what?
-I assume ED did a ton of testing and the 11kv's are the optimal choice for the size of the box?
-I think, not sure, that ED has these boxes machined made to perfect air space spec. But my question is can they make the back of the box (the side that faces the front towards engine) out of plexiglass? That way I/passenger can look behind us towards the rear and see the subs at work. Obviously I'd pay more.... Maybe I'll get lucky and Alex or someone from ED can chime in.
-Does a box made with some plexiglass sound worse then a full enclosed MDF box?
-Can the box carpet color be changed to match my grey interior?
-Where is the terminal? Are there 2 terminals or 1?

I'd like to keep my Alpine amp as much as I love ED amps (I have some buddies that have ED amps)... With that said. When I place my order I'm going to ask for the D2 optioned 11kv's as I believe Dual 2-ohm 10's wired correctly will present a 2-ohm load to my amp.
I had the following amping questions:
-ED's site seems to show that the 11kv's optimum power range per sub is between 200-500. That said, I should be find presenting 250watts per sub as my M500 Alpine amp is rated at 500 watts RMS / 1k peak. However, with the gains most likely turned up quite a bit do you all believe this will put too much stress on the amp? Or perhaps a fan will be required as I plan on mounting the amp in the cubby that is behind my passenger seat. (350Z owners will know what I mean)

Thanks in advance.

J. Dub,

Sorry for the lack of response. We had a meet this weekend and everyone just sort of seems to be making their way back on the boards.

Anyhoo!

Re : The black cones.

If it was ordered with the black cones you'd probably get a email saying we can not do that anymore. We'll get that removed from the web site. It shouldn't be there and honestly I wasn't aware that it was. Thank you for the heads up.

Re : box air space deminsions

I can't remember the dimensions off hand but I believe it's around .4cF per subwoofer.

Re : Is the box made of 3/4" MDF? If not then what?

On release it was MDF. Now it's made from EFS. EFS is denser than MDF, doesn't bend with exposure to miosture, and is a higher quality material.

Re : But my question is can they make the back of the box (the side that faces the front towards engine) out of plexiglass? That

Yes. We surely could. The could would be very high and probably be around 100+ added to the cost if not a little more. Doing a window would reduce cost some. It could be done but it would be expensive. Let us know what sort of budget your working with and we'll make it happen.

RE: Does a box made with some plexiglass sound worse then a full enclosed MDF box?

As long as it's tightly sealed there is no reason it shouldn't sound essentially exactly the same.

RE : Can the box carpet color be changed to match my grey interior?

We can do various colors. Black works best in that car and matches very closely. If you need custom stuff we can do that too.

RE : Where is the terminal? Are there 2 terminals or 1?

Middle downward back of the box I believe. 1 terminal. It can be moved if needed or a 2nd added.

RE : However, with the gains most likely turned up quite a bit do you all believe this will put too much stress on the amp?

Only if it's set wrong. Set them once and set them right. From there the power range will work just fine.

Ben this is awesome info.

ESF I'm a huge fan of! Glad to hear this is made from ESF! However, I was wondering if I place an order to have the back side of the box "windowed" or plexiglassed would the box still be made from ESF?

Ben, I assume the 11kv's are the optimal sub for these shallow boxes? I assume this cause you all sell them loaded for 350'z and figured you all did some testing. If these aren't could I bump up to a higher power ED sub?

Lastly, Ben in regards to the window not sure what that means. Are windows basically a small portion of the box cut out and a small bit of plexiglass laid over the cut out? Or is a window really made from glass? Sorry for newb question. I know you said it would cut down on pricing. I think "window" is what I want though. Rather then the ENTIRE back half of the box to be plexiglass I believe I'd just like a nice chunk of the back middle part to be made out of plexi... Can you all place an plasma or LED light in or around the glass? Sorta like in the picture below. Would it take away from the sound?

And below where the amp is located is basically where I'd like a window. Not sure if possible and if it is possible where the terminal would go at that point.? Hopefully on bottom center or on top center of box. Either way I'd be able to run the wire in a fashion so that it'd look proportional when looking inside the box... It being centered up like that.
