Alright. I'm dumb. I'll admit it. I went to Lowes to find some wood to work with and saw a sheet of oak 2'x 4' for something like $15 or $20 and was ecstatic. I was like wow! that seems really cheap! So i picked it up, and went and bought my stain and what not and then went to the woodshop to work on the B&C some more.

Well I cut the baffles, got the rounds real nice, and then noticed the edges of the board. The top and the bottom are oak and the edges you can see the layers.

Like I said. I'm dumb.

I already put the $20 and the hour and a half or so into them so i want to use them. Is there any way i can still put the stain finish on the edges and it look somewhat decent? The edges will be routed if that makes a difference. If not, tell me now so i can go buy what will look better. Thanks guys.

Your local idiot reporting......

you can cut strips of the wood if you have enough? and then seperate the layers possibly and use the oak to run the lenth of the edges so its all oak on top?

That will take some precision. I can try it. BUT. The baffle portion is longer than what i have left. Would it look alright if i butt two pieces together?

otherwise i may use stainable wood filler and coat the sides......

might even go back and see if they have oak boards for sale that are thin for a topper. shouldn't be too expensive.

ohhh...you talking about my EP? yeah, no one bought it yet.

I bought a sheet of oak plywood. I am using it for the front baffle. but the edge's show the layers! I was wondering the best way to make it look good with out having to go buy a new sheet of full oak.

trim all but the top layer 3/4" ot whatever thickness the plywood is that way it will hide the edges easy with a tablesaw

OH!!! I get it. Then slice some 5/8" pieces and glue them in there! GOT IT. Thanks Tim.

Same thing you were saying Pat, but the pieces will be a bit thicker and easier to work with. Got it. SWEET!

Well....after all this talk of sawing and gluing and fitting and forming...I walked through lowes and found some band-it in the same wood i am using, red oak. That will be my fix. BUT NEXT TIME, I buy the real thing, instead of dealing with this mess.....
