After working on so many not-so-easy cars, such as 350Zs, G35s, etc...I seem to have forgoten how easy many cars are...and I have to say to you guys that own a Scion Tc, you are VERY lucky to have such an easy car to work on, easy to take apart, flat rear floor...deep doors etc...

anyway, enough gushing, i havent dont a Tc custom install in a long time, ever acutally, only done headunits before, and this time, i got to do the kind of install i would acutally prefer to do day in and day out. That is, simple, one amp, one or two subs, two front speakers the quality can vary but the basic rule of thumb is the same.

anyway...

goals:

1. good sound quality
2. fully hidden install
3. classy and clean

in the factory location the customer already had an alpine headunit install, i just tapped into it for rcas and remote:

The Front stage is a set of DLS utimate UR6 6.5" components, The tweeters are flushed into the factory kicks, whcih aim pretty well on axis:

the midbass went into the stock location in the doors via a spacer, the entire door was dampened via Edead V4 Foam and V1 ultra thick, new wires were run into the door via the factory loom.

Moving on to the trunk, here is the normal fully hidden view, the entire floor is fully usable, not an inch of space was lost:

When you remove the carpet, you see a black grill that covers the center of the floor, the entire fake floor is black vinyl.

When you open the grille, here is what you see. A single Elemental Designs 11kv.2 on the left, and a DLS classic CA51 5 channel amp on the right. The CA51, with its on board xovers, is running the UR6 fully active, sending 3500hz up to the tweets, and 80 to 3500 to the midbass, while also running hte 11kv.2 with 250 watts.

The floor underneath the grille is blue suede, to match theoutside of the car

and here is an obligatory wiring pic to show everyhting is neatly done

all in all., i am very happy with the install, sounds very nice, the stock location, while not the best for imaging, does provide a nice high stage and very nice midbass. the single 10 relaly does pound in a small hatch back

enjoy

You suck. I was working my butt off on my door today and although I can get somewhat good output at 80+ hz, you come along with your fancy install with everything looking neat and professional. **** you.

Someday I'll be able to make use of the amazing equipment you use... hopefully I'll end up with half as nice an install as you would when it happens.

Bing, if you were to do a 3-way in that car, what is your input as far as tweeter and midrange placement? Would the tweeter on the bottom provide better results?

Gorgeous. I am glad it is going to be easy. Bing, I just picked up a new XB and am thinking I would like to have you do the install. Now that my job is not as big of an issue, I just need to save some money after buying this thing.

You do incredible work.
