I know the two above are NOT retouched. I've lost track on a lot of my others though.
I was still new to the camera when I took this. I think it was on auto and is probably unretouched or I'd have had the creamy white of the car be closer to the correct color.
Aperture Value f/8
Focal Length: 7 mm
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed Value: 1/640 sec
I think this could have been a really nice pic if I had tweaked the settings some.
Aperture Value: f/2.8
Focal Length: 7 mm
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed Value: 1/400 sec
This photo is retouched. It had to be. Its a Chevy Vega that I saw for sale in Bloomington, IN. The picture was taken at about 1:30AM under very bright yellow/orange (sodium?) street lights. The car was orange so it made things hard to rebalance the color. The lens flare and such are all from the original. Here is the original.
and the retouched:
(pre retouch settings)
Aperture Value: f/2.5
Focal Length: 8.1 mm
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed Value: 8sec
eric - A term used to describe a mentally retarded cat that has the ability to fly by moving its tail
in a circular motion. Once in the air, erics are known to land on top of statues to catch and eat
birds. Once they get the taste of blood, they turn into a form of vampire and attack fat people.
Thank you kindly young sir. The mechanic in me automatically defaulted to Ingersoll Rand. Nope, never delved into infrared though I might scan in some of my old B/W's and use the IR filter in PSP.

Heh, I used to have a job where I scanned customer invoice sheets for Ingersoll-Rand. When they deliver a machine to a customer, the vendor and customer need to sign-off on this "things you need to know" checklist of sorts. It was strange to see those checklists done in Chinese...
Anyway, here's some sweet ultraviolet and infrared work:

What the heck is this thread doing on the 2nd page?? There are way too many camera nerds here to allow that to happen.
I just got my 50mm f/1.8 yesterday and so far, I am very happy with it. The AF is a little noisy and it hunts around sometimes, but overall, it is great. i especially love the bokeh and can't wait to give this a try in low light.
this pic needed a little PP. i forgot to turn off custom WB till halfway through the afternoon, and as a result, it looked like a had a blue filter on the camera . gotta love RAW and CS3
I turned it into 2 layers and applied some unsharp mask to everything but the water. I should also mention that this was shot using a ND filter on my XTi.
EXIF:
shutter .6 sec
f/22
ISO100
EF50mm f/1.8
I shot a few more of my iguana and will post up something if there are any good ones.

Argh. You're running into the same problem I was here...but I'm not really sure it's even an issue, just something I've seen thrown around that I don't fully understand yet.
Of course, when you stop down your aperture, you start to lose sharpness due to diffraction--but look at your EXIF, you're already at the lowest you can get on your ISO. What else can you do to get the ethereal flowing water? Stop down the lens. That's it.
I'm not even sure f/22 is at a point where lenses will start to lose sharpness on our DSLR's, but it's just one of those things in the back of my mind (the "don't stop too high" rule) that I try follow because I don't want the image to suffer.
So, the question...have you noticed any appreciable loss of sharpness when you shoot that high aperture? I haven't myself, just curious what you might've found in your shooting...
Great shot, BTW! I like all the different states and shapes of water you got in that shot.

eric, I haven't shot enough with it yet to give you a good answer on that. running the aperture up that high was the only way i could get around wickedly over exposing those pictures, due to the long shutter time.
I had really good luck with this shoot (mostly because it was done on a tripod and with a remote release) and basically everything is a keeper. I haven't analysed the pictures completely, but they seem quite sharp. I will try to get back out soon and shoot a bit at different apertures to comare the stationary surroundings a bit better.
