I'm hoping to make some good progress this weekend. Due to the absolutely crappy weather, I haven't been motivated to do anything other than pick up the second sheet of MDF and cut it down to size. I'd like to cut out the next 28 blanks tomorrow, then lay them up Sunday.

Well now that ICIX is more or less gone, it looks like I'll only have to update one thread, although I've been slacking over here.

Toward the end of the last batch of blanks, I decided to take a crack at a speeding the process up a bit by routing the blanks flush before the glue was dried. Up until that point I'd glue/brad two layers on, let it dry overnight, then rout flush. Not waiting for the glue to dry allowed me to lay up about 10-12 layers over two afternoons of work, but a slight problem showed up and I was moving too quickly though the layers to realize it initially. I was only using 4-6 brads per layer, and in between the brads, the MDF was flexing slightly while I was cutting it, and the ends of the enclosure got pretty ugly. I wound up having to do quite a bit of bondo work to fix the issue.

The bondo work is now done, and as soon as I get the jigsaw back off my dad, progress will continue.

I'll try to snap some pictures tonight. If not tonight, then this weekend.

I'd give up one of my boys to have a pair of big 8's

I was browsing around HTGuide and saw This thread. It made me think of this build so much I had to post a link here.

There's a few really nice translam builds over there.

Yesterday I actually added layers for the first time in a couple months I'll have some pictures once Corsair RMA's my ram for my home computer and send me new stuff back.

Sheet #3 has been purchased and cut down into 49x13.5" wide strips to make it more workable. Two layers were added over the weekend and router flush yesterday afternoon. Four more blanks were cut out, and two more layers were glued up. I now have 29 layers glued up. I should get these two layers routed flush and two more layers glued up tonight. UPS says my RAM should be delivered today, so I'll actually be able to post some pictures.

I just realized you're probably sitting at home, bored out of your mind, surfing the web for something interesting. So long as my computer parts come today, I'll make it a point to post some updates for you

Yeah man. Got tired of playing Playstation (playstation 1 that is!), have hit all the forums I frequent, have no money to be shopping, so I'm trying to work on my two speaker projects over here, while trying to stop myself from gorging on the massive quantities of junk food I have here from get well packages.

Going to be a rough 5 more days. I'm just excited to see an awesome project come to fruition.

Find something you've always wanted to learn about, and start googling. That's a good way to kill a day when there's nothing else to do.

Do you have Stumble Upon by chance?

It's a plug-in for firefox that takes you to random web pages based on what you're interested in. Give it a shot if you've got nothing better to do.
