This is what i call "wouldnt you like to have this instead of a prefab box in the trunk?" kind of install...the most simply level of custom intsall i do... uusally with total labor budget around the 500 dollar range for the entire car hehe...
anyway...car is a sedan version of my car, a subaru legacy GT...so i did know the car pretty well.
goals:
1. good balanced SQ
2. keep spare but save as much room as possible
3. clean and stealthy
upfront, an AVO single din kit replaces the stock cubby, and a kenwood headunit resides there, supplied by the customer, i forgot the model number off hand, but it comes with usb input hehe
i also installed a customer supplied bluetooth unit, and had the mike here:
i also routed his USB input cable and minijack aux input cable to his center arm rest:
a pair of DLS ultimate UX26 6.5" high end coaxials reside in the stock locations, via spacers, the entire door was dampened partially by the customer and i finished the job, new wires were routedd into the door so no resuing stock wiring here )
moving on to the trunk, a simple, backward facing enclosure was built, and this is this the view covered up:
the sub enclsoure also house the two elemetnal designs nine.2 amps, bracketing a single image dynamics ID12, a front sub panel was biult and routed out, covered in white suede to frame the sub and amps, and then a cosmetic panel was made to finish it off, here is the view with the cover off
and finally, a behind the scenes view of the subbox/amp rack and wire routing...
honestly, it sounds excellent for such a simple, two day install

That sub box / amp rack is gorgeous! It's amazing how clean you can make an install look with a little bit of added time and planning. Well done!

yeah you hit it, planning, and honestly, i would say doing this, versus having a prefab box with the amps bolted on the back, atleast for me, isnt THAT much more work, perhaps hmm...4-5 hours, and maybe 20 bucks in extra materials...but i think it
i just am amazed some shops around here charge 6-700 bucks and just throw a pre-fab box in the trunk for hte sub/amp...

Is there any way you can show or pm me some more indepth box sketches? This is what I had in mind for my install. Is it just a cube mounted to a board with the amps attached? How did you secure the whole setup? It looks like you attahced it to the deck. Do you get any rattling back there? How do you attach the face board to the box/amp rack?

I want a LGT
I want a system that clean if I ever were to get an LGT.
Make the box a little bigger, invert mount a 13av.2 in it, port it, and give me a nice set of 2 or 3 ways up front......

labor = 500-800 total: 2.2k-2.5k
yeah pretty good guess

so is there not a good way to replace the factory radio?
i recently put 2 13kv.2s in my g/fs dad's legacy gt. but everything else stock right now. im trying to convince him to get better speakers up front and maybe a HU. Where there not stock components in the car? in his there was.
also what year legacy is that?
