iLike my iPod. Finally got iTunes beat into submission to the point where it's less painful to use than the old system I had...

Winblows running freeware MP3 ripper, external 160G HD, manually transferring files to my LG Chocolate3. PITA 'specially since the phone's only got ~1GB internal and a 2GB microSD card in it. I can fit all my ripped CDs on the iPod now. I'm deleting the stuff I don't like as I figure it out...

The earbuds suck though. I like the sound of the "Auvio" full-seal earplugs I got at RS for the phone better. The fourth conductor on the plug (made for iPhone and Chocolate connectors) keeps doing weird things, apparently iPod-compatible four-conductor plugs use the fourth conductor for various control purposes. I think when the mic picks up ambient sounds sometimes it toggles the control functions on the iPod. At first I thought I had an intermittent failure of the iPod. Then I swapped back to the Apple earbuds and the problem went away. I had the Nano in "hold" mode and it was randomly doing stuff!

So very soon I think I'm going to dive into a good set of portable earbuds or sealed headphones and a portable headphone amp. 192kbps doesn't suck too badly now that the encoders work better than they did in 2002...

Ok, just ripped some more cds. I can't fit all my cds on the Nano. Good news is that itunes makes it easier to change the selections sync'd to the ipod.

Still looking forward to a better set of earbuds. I have a set of Sennheiser over the ear for home, but they need more of an amp than what's in the ipod.

If I press the stock ipod earbuds against my ears, the bass comes through. After about five minutes they move around a bit and decouple from my ear canal, letting the bass leak out around the earbud.

I guess for real listening I'll need real 'phones.

If you want cheap layovers, Sennheiser CX300 II's. $30 on the bay, $60 retail I think. Love mine.

I have a set of CX300's and the bass output is pretty impressive. Even without a CMOY.
